Abstract
Xper2 is a versatile software for storing, managing, analysing, editing and on-line publishing of taxonomic knowledge and free access keys. Written in Java, it is available on Windows Mac OS or Linux versions in French, English or Spanish. With its intuitive interface Xper2 is aimed at professional taxonomists as well as naturalists who merely want to identify specimens using a ready-made application. Xper2 version 2.2 comes with a numerical data management feature thus, making it a complete free tool. Other functionalities are now implemented: character merging, taxon merging, a better user-interface, managing image attachment via URL, broader language support (simplified Chinese, Portuguese and Japanese coming soon).
