OpenUp! is a three years project (2010-2013) with its main target of serving multimedia content (images, videos, sound files) of the Biodiversity domain to Europeana http://www.europeana.eu

Task of Workpackage 6 is multilingual metadata enrichment with its main emphasis on the integration of Common Names services.

To accomplish this goal various levels of coverage are addressed and integrated to build up an enrichment service: global (Catalogue of Life), regional (Europe: PESI), national (Austrian, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish, etc.) and thematic (bats of the world; spices) resources will be integrated to enrich metadata for objects that are only filed under their scientific names and will complement those with their common name representation.

Systems architectural aspects, a metadata schema for common names of biological organisms and integration services in addition to already existing repositories are discussed.
