The larger purpose of this interest group is to promote the effective sharing and use of taxonomic names and concepts.

 
The agenda for this year's open meeting will include:

1) Review and update of the interest group charter;

2) Re-casting the Taxonomic Concept Schema (TCS) for the semantic web; 

3) Review TNC elements in other TDWG standards and drafts, such as the DarwinCore [1] and TaxPub [2]); 

4) Updates (lightning talks) on relevant projects; 

5) Tasks to be undertaken in the 2012;

6) Other matters arising.

We expect to need a half day to cover these topics and that 25-40 people might attend.
