The Joint TDWG/GBIF Multimedia Resources Metadata Task Group (MRTG) is
near the end of the review period for the proposed Audubon Core (AC)
Multimedia Metadata Standard (formerly also called MRTG). AC aims to
provide an easy to use metadata vocabulary to describe the content,
management, intellectual property rights, and access mechanisms for
biodiversity multimedia and multimedia collections. It reuses many
terms that holders of such media may already be using These include terms from the. Dublin
Core, Darwin Core and Adobe XMP vocabularies, and adds some terms where those are inadequate.
The session will provide 15 minute overview of the Audubon Core, with
the remainder dedicated to open discussion of how MRTG expects that AC
will be implemented in practice, and what kinds of problems AC does
and does not presently address.

Agenda:

  • Design goals of AC
  • overview of AC documents
  • Review of major categories of AC terms
  • Future developments
  • Open ended discussions and questions
