Abstract

We will talk about the kind of quality features a data integrator institution handles, when the mission of the data is to be used as information for decision-making. The National Biodiversity Information System of México (SNIB) is aimed to serve as a bridge between biodiversity data to help decision makers to include the best possible information on biodiversity, which include public policy, NGOs, and society in general. The talk will be centered on species level data, the kind of process Conabio passed through, and the way we assemble the SNIB. We will discuss the layers of information in the SNIB the relation between them and the problems we identified so far (figure below). In the process of the talk, we hope you will discover, the kind of knowledge, skills and tools a group needs to master in order to achieve a useful information system.
