Nearly every herbarium in the world is now doing some form of digitisation. There is no one solution for digitisation that will fit every institute – each one has its own priorities, constraints and challenges. Many institutes will have limited resources for digitisation, especially in terms of technological support and funds. There are several large collaborative digitisation projects underway at the moment. Some of these are working to develop tools and methods and some are developing networks and global resources.

So how do collections find information about tools and resources and how do they incorporate them into their institute and workflows. What are the building blocks? What parts of the building blocks are done in-house and what parts are done externally? How do these decisions get made? What options are available and how do people find out about the available options? How do the building blocks get put together into workflows and how do people find out about alternative workflows? How do we ensure sustainability of tools and resources?
