Standards, principles and conventions for building modular, adaptable collection management systems

The DINA consortium aims to provide open source web-based collection management systems that are build by multiple international partners in a distributed development effort. The consortium partners will contribute several  existing and planned stand-alone modules that will provide a basis for adaptable collection management system assemblies tailored to specific institutional and curatorial needs. A first major step towards utilising existing partner contributions is the DINA web API standard which defines a reliable contract facilitating the immediate integration of DINA modules. The DINA API consists of a REST API standard, conventions and practices that provide an integration framework for existing and new DINA partners.

In this talk we introduce the work of the DINA 'Systems Engineering Task Force' and provide an overview of the DINA web API standard with reference to compliant sample DINA modules.
