The dates and location of TDWG's 2016 Annual Conference have been set. The meeting will hosted by the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC) and the Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio) in Santa Clara de San Carlos, near La Fortuna, a center of tourism near the base of a volcano. The theme of this year's conference is Standards Supporting Innovation in Biodiversity Research and Conservation. Subprograms may include: Semantics and ontologies (e.g., sampling, traits), Biological field station data management, Standards for open data , Citizen science, Data visualization, Data Quality Assessment and Improvement, Agricultural biodiversity, Conservation Informatics, Phyloinformatics, ePublications, and Standards for image processing (e.g. computer vision for organismal identification). Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) will hold its 2015 annual conference 28 September to 1 October 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya. This is TDWG’s first conference in Africa! The theme of the conference is Applications, Standards and Capacity Building for Sustaining Global Biodiversity. Subprograms will include: Digitization, Semantic Technologies, Phyloinformatics, Outreach and Collaboration, ePublications, Trait Data, and Conservation informatics. A 5-day capacity building workshop for African participants at the conference will be organized, focussing primarily on biodiversity collection digitization, biodiversity databases, data cleaning, and georeferencing. The workshop dates are 21-25 September 2015 (the week before the TDWG conference).

The Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) Executive Committee is pleased to announce that the 2012 TDWG annual conference will be held on October 22-26, 2012 at the China People’s Palace in Beijing, China. Professor Keping Ma, Deputy Director, Biodiversity Committee, Chinese Academy of Sciences is Chair of the Local Organizing Committee; Yinan Liu, Deputy Director of the Office of the Biodiversity Committee, Chinese Academy of Sciences is the Meeting Manager and Rusty Russell, Program Manager for Collections and Informatics at the U.S. National Herbarium, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, is Chair of the Program Committee.
